The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced an audit of the Boeing 737 Max 9 production line and its suppliers. The audit aims to ensure quality control and will also assess safety risks related to delegated authority and quality oversight. The FAA is considering the use of an independent third party to oversee Boeing’s inspections and quality system. There is no mention of when the 737 Max 9 will return to service, raising the possibility of an extended grounding. Boeing CEO David Calhoun acknowledged a mistake related to an in-flight incident on Alaska Airlines flight 1282.
